Shiseido The Makeup Mascara Base (available at Sephora.com for $23)
This product is a clear colored mascara base that will curl your lashes and add volume. You don't necessarily have to wait for it to dry before applying mascara. It will be like you have a new mascara.
and...
Lancome Oscillation Powerbooster (available at Sephora.com for $39)This is my ultimate must have beauty item. It is a bit costly, but it is definitely worth the investment. They also have the non-oscillation one which is the exact same thing without the vibrating wand. This is a white colored primer, but it doesn't effect the color of your mascara. It is a good idea to wait a few seconds before applying the mascara for smoother application. This product is really good for adding length to your lashes, and it is supposed to have a conditioning effect to strengthen your lashes as well.
Now for those lovely shoes that look oh so pretty, but make you want to never wear them for longer than 30 minutes. One thing I realized while working at events that require me to be standing or walking around or even running around for 8-10 hours straight in shoes that match my LBD is that shoes are shoes. Ballerina flats, full on platform heels - even those Cole Haan Nike Air ones, boots, however comfortable they were when you tried them on at the store, they are all the same. Your feet will die. The thing is, if the shoes are too flat on the bottom, the soles of your feel will hurt, and if the shoes have cushion either the toes will still feel squished or you'll still get blisters on the back of your heel and everywhere else.
So, what is the solution? Continue the never-ending journey to finding the perfect pair? No. Go out and buy shoe insoles/inserts. There are so many kinds of shoe insoles/inserts out there for all types of shoes (open toe sandals to flats to mega high heels), and although it may not solve the problem 100%, it is much better than a splurge going to waste. One thing to note though, sometimes the insoles - no matter how thin - will make the shoe fit much tighter, which can actually make the situation for your feet much worse. My advice is that when you go out to buy shoes, get them a half size bigger and wear them with insoles/inserts. That is possibly the most comfortable way to wear your most uncomfortable pair as I have experienced time and time again.
The ones I use are Dr. Scholls (available at drugstores like RiteAid or CVS). They have specific ones "for her"like High Heel Insoles, Heel Liners, Open Shoe Insoles, and much more. They also have cushioned tapes that you can stick on anywhere on the shoe that causes discomfort, such as blisters. *Note: the cost of these insoles may add up quick as they are not exactly cheap, but if you look around online I'm sure there will be alternative brands that will be just as comfortable for less buck. To happy heels! :)
